Installing a kitchen sink:

When to Call a Professional

  • Installing the plumbing beneath your sink is generally a simple process, but always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for specific guidelines.
  • For new installs, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installing the basket strainer, drainpipes, faucet, sprayer, and garbage disposal.

How to Remove an Existing Sink

  1. Turn off all power for circuits around the sink and shut off the water supply below the faucet.
  2. Open the faucet to relieve the pressure, then disconnect the supply lines, drain lines, and garbage disposal.
  3. Remove the garbage disposal by loosening the mounting hardware and twisting it off.
  4. Loosen and slide out the mounting clips beneath the sink to completely remove the old sink.

How to Install a Drop-In Kitchen Sink

  1. Measure and mark the desired location of the sink on the countertop.
  2. Drill a hole in each corner on the inside of the cut line.
  3. Use a jigsaw to cut along the lines between each hole.
  4. Remove the discarded section and place the sink inside the hole to check the fit.
  5. If satisfied with the fit, apply sealant if necessary, and install the plumbing fixtures, garbage disposal, and connect the drain pipes as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
